Offered by KAIVE
Program Overview
The Orthopaedics and Trauma Medicine (OTM) program at KAIVE is designed to train competent, skilled professionals who can assist in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders.
As injuries from road accidents, sports, and occupational hazards continue to rise globally, the demand for trained orthopaedic and trauma care specialists has grown rapidly. This program provides students with both clinical and technical knowledge in the management of bone, joint, and soft-tissue injuries — bridging the gap between emergency medicine, surgery, and rehabilitative care.
Through a strong combination of theoretical learning, clinical skills training, and hospital-based internships, students learn how to provide effective support in orthopaedic wards, emergency departments, and rehabilitation units under the supervision of qualified medical practitioners.
Program Objectives
By the end of the OTM program, students will be able to:
- Assist doctors and nurses in managing fractures, dislocations, and musculoskeletal trauma.
- Apply principles of anatomy, physiology, and orthopaedic medicine to patient care.
- Support emergency management of trauma cases, including splinting, bandaging, and immobilization.
- Assist in operating theatres during orthopaedic and trauma surgeries.
- Provide pre- and post-operative patient care, including rehabilitation assistance.
- Maintain sterile environments and ensure infection prevention in clinical settings.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Promote injury prevention and rehabilitation education in communities.
